UTA 84 @ LOUISIANA LAFAYETTE 69

Scott Cross has been looking for the moment when his UTA Mavericks team will mature. Maybe this was the day.
With Jorge Bilbao having the best game of his young career, the Mavs did not let the aura of an ESPN television audience get to them as they took down Louisiana Lafayette 84-69 at the Cajun Dome.
The sophomore Spaniard was a perfect seven of seven from the floor in scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and two blocked shots, while Johnny Hill had 16.
But what had to be even more impressive was how the Mavs pulled it off as a team, what with their recent second-half struggles since Sun Belt play began.
Down 47-41 early in the second half, the Mavs immediately responded with a 10-0 run. They held the Cajuns to only three points, all from Devonte Walker, for nearly 6 1/2 minutes, allowing them to build a 12-point lead.
This was a double digit lead they did not let slip away. Every time the Cajuns did score, UTA had an answer. Lafayette never got closer than eight points after that, and the Mavs pushed their lead to as many as 17.
