UTA 54 TROY 55
It can be hard to remember just how inexperienced this UTA Mavericks team is, with so many key players being only sophomores or younger.
That inexperience could very well be why the Mavs have struggled late in games – an issue that reared its ugly head again in both games at College Park Center this past week.
After seeing an 11-point lead slip away against Georgia Stat e on Thursday, UTA saw an eight-point lead disappear in the second half on Saturday, with two free throws by Kelton Ford with three seconds left gave Troy the victory in the end.
The Mavs had taken a 54-53 lead 17 seconds earlier on two free throws by Lonnie McClanahan, but then Jorge Bilbao fouled Ford, sending Bilbao to the bench with five fouls and Ford to the line.
