TCU 48 @ TEXAS 10 – HORNED FROGS PICK OFF AUSTIN
This time, TCU didn’t need to be flashy. They just needed to deliver some humiliation.
Trevone Boykin and the Horned Frogs did not have their most explosive offensive game by far, but the TCU defense and special teams kept putting them in great positions, and it led to a dismantling of the Horns at Royal Memorial Stadium – their larges margin of victory ever in Austin.
For much of the game, neither team could move the ball extremely well, but TCU mad the big plays when it counted. Turnovers and big plays on punt returns allowed the Frogs to start four drives inside Texas’ 30-yard line, and all of them led to points.
TCU forced six turnovers, leading to 31 points. The only touchdown they allowed came on a short pass from Tyrone Swoopes to Armanti Foreman that Foreman was able to run 73 yards into the end zone. But that was overshadowed by Swoopes being intercepted four times and fumbling once on a sack. That fumble and one interception led to defensive touchdowns.
By the fourth quarter, Texas’ defense appeared beaten and tired, and that’s when the Frog offense took advantage, leading to 28 points in the final period. Boykin ultimately threw for 233 yards and Josh Doctson to have 115 receiving yards.
