MAVS 109 NEW YORK 102 (OT)
The Mavericks can perhaps breathe a sigh of relief that New York chose not to take the conventional strategy and go for the win in the final seconds.
Despite having hit 50 percent from beyond the arc for the game, the Knicks went for the tie in their last possession, and while J.R. Smith did force overtime, the Mavs regrouped in the extra period and forced six turnovers and 33 percent shooting to finish the Knicks off 109-102 at the American Airlines Center.
Dirk Nowitzki finished with 30 points, while Tyson Chandler pushed his former team around for 25 rebounds.
Both teams were playing short-handed, as Carmelo Anthony was out for the Knicks and the Mavs were without Jameer Nelson.
