STARS 5 KINGS 4
Not this time. The Dallas Stars are finding ways to hold on in the third period at last.
The Stars used their power play to great effect, scoring two power play goals to upend the Cup Champions at the American Airlines Center.
One of those power play goals came from Jaime Benn, who netted his second goal of the first period with two seconds to play to give Dallas a 3-0 lead, which would eventually become 4-0 thanks to Tyler Seguin.
The Lakers cut that to 4-2 before Jason Demers scored on the power play. Nonetheless, the Kings cut that 5-2 lead down to one goal with less than 10 minutes to play in the game.
But another penalty cost Los Angeles with less than two minutes to go. While the Stars could not get another goal out of that, it meant the Kings had to pull goalie Jonathan Quick just to be at even strength, and the Stars were able to trap the puck in the corner as the seconds ran down long enough to hold on.
