FC DALLAS 0 @ SEATTLE 0 – DALLAS ELIMINATED
Ultimately, it ended with slightly more than a whimper.
FC Dallas, what at times could have one of the most explosive offenses in MLS, could just not break through and saw its season end thanks to a scoreless tie in the second lag match at CenturyLink Field.
The aggregate of the series ended at 1-1 with Seattle advancing on the away goals tiebreaker.
FCD ends with only three goals scored in its last four games – two of them coming on penalty kicks.
Oscar Pareja tried to mix and match the offensive weapons he had, giving Mauro Diaz the start for this match. But not even having Andres Escobar and David Texeira available as late subs for Blas Perez and Michel could give his club the spark they needed.
FCD could not seem to break through the defense all night. Almost every pass into the box seemed to be met with a swarm of green jerseys. Stefan Frei rarely had to make a tough save.
Chris Seitz, on the other side, came up big making a number of stops to prevent the Sounders from getting on to the scoreboard. But it ultimately didn’t matter, as Seattle wasn’t the one that needed to score in this contest.
It was Dallas, and in the end, it just wasn’t there for Dallas.
