It was a back-and-forth affair that the team from Long Island came on top in. Antoine Roussel gave the Stars the lead late in the second, but it leased less than a minute as the Islanders came back with three unanswered goals. Shawn Horcoff cut a 6-4 lead down to one with 4 1/2 to go, but Frans Nielson put the game away with an empty netter with less than a second left.
