Midland got to Ryan Rodebaugh and Joe Ortiz for four runs in the sixth inning to beat Frisco 8-6 in the first game of the series at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.
Meanwhile, Jake Thompson, acquired in the Joakim Soria trade, is expected to make his first Riders start on Tuesday. Derek Holland will take the mound for his long-awaited rehab start on Wednesday.
